Level Up Your Writing Skills One Month At A Time
For writers working on more than one project, or who are focused on improving their writing overall, I offer one-on-one coaching as an option. Each month, we begin with a brainstorming session. You set goals, either for word count on a certain project, or to meet other objectives such as completing short stories, chapters, or writing exercises.
Once the criteria for the month are established, you begin to write. Over the course of each week, I will provide check-in e-mails to see how you are faring, and to offer advice and encouragement. At the end of a week, you send me the work you’ve completed, so I can offer targeted feedback in the following e-mail.
I will also offer optional exercises you can complete to help you develop your skills and conquer weak spots in your writing. Completing these will help you gain confidence that you are growing as a writer. I will also highlight where your strengths lie so that you can take note of and expand them, and take pride in your unique gifts as an author.
Often I find coaches and editors are quick to point out failings and stingy with praise. I find my students are more successful, happier, and more able to triumph over their weaknesses when they have confidence in their current skillset, and in their ability to tackle any challenges set before them. At the end of each month, I have full conviction that doing the work and exercises set out for you under my guided coaching regimen will make you a better, bolder, and more productive author.
